The postal machine which handles sorted letters so as to deliver a given number of letters into a magazine, has an inner drum and an outer drum which can be operated independently. Both carry sets of radial flaps positioned inside the annular gap between them. A flap on the inner drum is moved down from an upper feed position to a lower delivery position. Envelopes fed into the upper position are guided by an endless belt around the drum enclosing the region. When the space is filled, the envelopes are discharged as the flap at the top is rotated, pushing the contents downwards. As these are discharged, another batch is being fed in above the next flap.
|
