The construction for a wooden door uses vertical tongue and grooved boarding (1) with two or more transverse ledges (2). The whole assembly is dry jointed. The ledges form wedges which give the panel its structural and dimensional stability. Each ledge may be divided longitudinally (4) into two complementary tapered pieces or wedges (3a, 3b), the wedge interface being normal to the major panel plane, with a tongue and groove connection. The connection between the ledge and the battens is made by a shallow dovetailed joint, the assembled ledges having dovetail tenons locating in reciprocal batten grooves (2). The assembly is thus tightly wedged together by driving the ledge pieces in opposite directions (F1, F2).
|
