The baler press uses a piston (2) which has a cross slot (3). The circling band (4) comes from a reel on the upper side of the baler, and a second band (6) is located under the baler. The bale is held by the tied strips at an upper point (9), the bale remaining in contact with the piston. The lower strip is carried on a chain in the slot in the piston to join up with the upper strip and bind the bale.
