Offshore pipe laying ship - with self-contained propulsion and pipe laying facilities

A drum-type pipe laying ship with a winch to drive the central drum has at the stern handling conditioning and equalising devices for the pipe strand. A control for the radius of curvature is followed by a straightening device and tensiones. Some of the devices can be shifted across the ship parallel to the drum axis, others can be turned to adjust the angle at which the pipe strand enters the water. This ship is self-contained and requires no supply ship. It is versatile and can be used for deep waters, far away from any supply base. It can accept pipe drums of varying sizes. Ballast chambers compensate for the pipe weight and assist in heavy seas.
