<p>In the mounting of the drum in a washing machine, or clothes dryer, there is a straight guide member connected to the drum or the machine housing with an unbraked slide in the oscillating direction of the friction shock absorber. The slide is held by opposing pressures on the slide to hold it in a relatively central position. The slide forms the first friction component of the friction brake, while the second friction component is located on the machine housing or on the drum assembly. Pref. a swing lever is used as the carrier for the second friction component, rotating on it. The guide member is rigidly bonded to the washing fluid vessel of the drum assembly, with a flexible elastomeric cushion bond with the base of the machine.</p> |
