Variable ratio belt drive for bicycle - has reciprocating belt drive and supporting belt spacer

The variable belt drive for a bicycle has two reciprocating pedals which drive flanged gear wheels (9) at the front. They are coupled to the rear wheels by rear flanged wheels (10) over which the belts are looped and coupled via a ratchet freewheel. The drive belt (13) is secured to the axles of both flanged wheels and has variable loops over either to change the ratio. A support belt (12) is wound over both flanged wheels and is taken to a control lever to change the setting of both wheels and hence the relative ratios.
