PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance of a titanium product by melting the surface layer of a titanium product, mixing one or more kinds among respective powders of beta titanium alloys, Mo, Ta, Nb, and V into the resulting molten pool to form a built-up layer of beta-phase, and then carrying out aging treatment at a specific temp. CONSTITUTION:The surface layer of a titanium product 1 is melted by means of energy irradiation from a high energy source. Subsequently, one or more kinds among respective powders of beta titanium alloys, Mo, Ta, Nb, and V are mixed, by injection, into the resulting molten pool to form a built-up layer of beta-phase 2. Then, aging treatment is carried out at 350-550 deg.C. A powder mixture of the above powder and at least one kind among powdered metal carbides and powdered metal nitrides is mixed by injection. By this method, the wear resistance of the titanium product can be improved. |
