PURPOSE:To radiate a radio wave in a desired direction by fixing the radiation element interval and the period of the excitation amplitude, which changes into a sine-wave shape, judging from the free-spacing wavelength and the propagation wavelength of a line. CONSTITUTION:At the short side of waveguide 1, a gap is provided which makes the excitation amplitude of space (d) change into a sine waveform of period D and the excitation amplitude is varied according to the variation in the tilt angle of the gap. Inside of the waveguide, progressive waves are considered to propagate simultaneously in both the positive and negative directions of its axis, which results in that there are two progressive waves expressed by two equations with any integer (n). When D and (d) are fixed under conditions of (1-lambda)/lambdag<D<=(1+lambda)/lambdag and 2{(1+lambda)/lambdag}<lambda/d, only one radiation wave is radiation in a direction of theta0= sin<-1> (lambda/lambdag-lambda/D), so that the radiation area will be expanded. |
