PURPOSE:To prevent seizure on rolling, enhance the efficiency of rolling, and raise quality of rolling by using a rolling oil of a saponification value of more than 170 in the cold rolling of titanium and titanium alloy. CONSTITUTION:Using a rolling oil whose saponification value is regulated to more than 170, a titanium plate is cold rolled by means of the two-stage rolling machine. The relation between the average rolling pressure and the thickness strain in the whole plate is shown in the Fig. where the line 1 showing rolling characteristics in the case of no seizure coincides with that of the rolling oil whose saponification value is raised, as shown by the mark DELTA(white, black, and semiwhite). This indicates that seizure is hard to occur, and that rolling quality is made better with lower rolling pressure and also good rolling efficiency. In addition, no additive for enhancing lubricating effect is required and also no environmental pollution and no bad influence on the other materials take place. |
