FIELD: mechanics. ^ SUBSTANCE: motion converter comprises four cylinders arranged in pairs. Con rods of pistons of opposite cylinders are interconnected by two parallel toothed racks. The converter output shaft accommodates the hubs of four overrunning couplings fixed thereon. Holders of the said overrunning couplings are engaged with appropriate gears. The first and second racks of every pair are shifted relative to each other and interact with the first and second gears of appropriate pair on opposite sides. Note that the overrunning couplings are arranged so that, when the first of them transferring rotation to the output shaft clockwise are engaged, the second couplings transferring opposite rotation are disengaged and visa versa. Note also that the angle between the parallel toothed racks of adjacent pairs of cylinders in frontal plane can vary from 0 to 90°, and that the time of their staying in dead centers is phase-shifted for, primarily, T/N, where N is the number cylinders. ^ EFFECT: higher efficiency and longer life. ^ 12 cl, 16 dwg, 1 tbl |
