<p>The wheel rim is formed of a fairly flat portion (1) which is shaped at its ends to form seats for the type bends. Another part (2) is welded to this rim to form the wheel centre. One bead (11) of the tyre seats on a flat and curved part of the rim (5). The other bead (12) of the tyre seats on a circular section ring (16) which seats in a recess (8) in the rim. This arrangement tends to prevent either side of the tyre coming off, following a sudden deflation. The beads are typically reinforced and have tapering ends.</p> |
