PURPOSE:To achieve the improvement in response characteristics and sensitivity by supporting electrode plates with a pair of grooved insulators opposedly disposed in an enclosure. CONSTITUTION:A pair of insulators 13A, 13B which are engraved with opposing grooves a-a', b-b'... on their opposing faces 19A, 19B are opposedly disposed within an enclosure 14. High voltage electrode plates 11 and signal electrode plates 12 are mounted while their respective top and bottom end edges are engaged into the opposing grooves a-a', b-b'... This enables the interelectrode spacing to be determined as desired by the peak width of the opposing grooves a-a', b-b'... engraved to the insulators 13A, 13B, thus simplifying assembling. In addition, the sensitive portions are readily increased by reducing the peak width, whereby the responsiveness and sensitivity to pulse X-rays are improved. If an insulating plate 16 is put between the abovementioned radiation incident window pat 15 and both electrode plates 11, 12, there are no non-electric field portions and the collection of effective charges |
