Novel 6-substituted derivatives of D-8-ergolin-I-ylacetamide, having the general formula (I): (I) wherein R is an alkyl group having 2 or 3 carbon atoms or an allyl group, and their pharmaceutically acceptable addition salts with inorganic and organic acids. These compounds have been found to possess markedly pronounced antilactation and antinidation activity which renders them useful as potent inhibitors of the adenohypophysary prolactin secretion.
