<p>PURPOSE:To calculate the resistance component current IR simply by utilizing a voltage across terminals of a voltage dividing element, which has a component ratio equal to that of the resistance component to the capacitance component of internal element, provided to between the internal element and the ground. CONSTITUTION:The internal element 30 makes up the overvoltage protection device proper, and is shown equivalently as a parallel connection of the non-linear resistance component R with the capacitance component C. The switch 6 is connected with the voltage dividing element 7 and shunt 8 in parallel. Three terminals 9, 10 and 11 are derived from the voltage dividing element 7 and shunt 8. The voltage dividing element 7 consists of elements which have a component ratio equal to that of the resistance component R to the capacitance component C of internal element 30. Since the composite leakage current IO flowing in the internal element 30 is that IO = IR + IC, the resistance component current IR is IO - IC, the characteristic of internal element 30 can be controlled by this IR.</p> |
