<p>Impurities in the form of coarse material and iron are removed by a dry process from the residue produced in garbage and refuse incinerators immediately after the residue outlet (1) from the incinerator. After removal of the coarse material, separation into two fractions is carried out in a fractionating unit (6). One of the fractions contains all particles smaller than 2 mm. At the same time, the dust is removed by a suction device (14). Dust and particles smaller than 2 mm contain practically all the soluble impurities and must be processed or disposed of by special procedures. The remaining purified residue is dry and can be used as a building material. The process and device obviate the use of a water bath, and no energy is required for drying.</p> |
