NEW MATERIAL:Antibiotic DC-14, which has the following physicochemical properties. Property: weakly basic; elementary analysis: C 65.11%, H 6.24%, N 3.49%; molecular weight: 802; molecular formula: C43H50N2O13; m.p.: 214- 215 deg.C (decomposition point); UV spectrum: shows an absorption maximum at 243 nm and shoulders at 265-270 and 290-295 nm; silica gel TLC: Rf=0.22 [ethanol:acetone=1:1 (V/V)]; etc. USE:Antibiotics exhibiting antifungal and anticarcinogenic actibity. PROCESS:Bacteria which belong to the Streptomyces genus and have DC-14-producing ability, KY 11459 (FERM-P No.4457), are cultured in a nutrient medium, and DC-14 is collected and produced from the cultured substance. |
