NEW MATERIAL:Antibiotic malioxamycin, which has the following characteristics. Melting point: 158-160 deg.C (foaming); specific rotation; [alpha]<21>D= +73.4 deg. (c= 1.21, water); elementary analysis: found, C 40.36%, H 6.79%, N 10.41%, calcd. as C9H16N2O6 H2O, C 40.60%, H 6.81%, N 10.52%; molecular weight: 248; molecular formula: C9N16N2O6; color reaction; ninhydrin and ferric chloride reactions are positive; etc. USE:Antibiotics. Effective particularly against Gram-negative bacteria including resistant bacteria against known antibiotics). PROCESS:Malioxamycin-producing bacteria belonging to the Streptomyces genus, Streptomyces lydicus No.15748 (FERM-P No.4481), are cultured, and malioxamycin is isolated and produced from the cultured substance. |
