PURPOSE:To bleach color photographic material promptly without causing environmental pollution or destroying the coloring matter by bleacing, by using electrolytic solution of aqueous solution containing specific water soluble bromine compound and amino-alcohol. CONSTITUTION:Aqueous solution containing about 5 X 10<-3> to 3 mol/lof water soluble bromine compound (a) such as alkali bromide metal salt or ammounium bromide which generates bromine due to electrolytic oxidation, and about 1 X 10<-4> to 5 mol/ of amino-alcohol (b) such as 2-amino ethanol, 2-(methyl amino) ethanol shown in formula [R<1> is H, (substituted) alkyl, aryl; R<2> is bivalent aliphatic group shown by R<3>, R<3>OR<4> (R<3>, R4 are alkylene)] is electrolytically decomposed at a current of about 0.1 to 20 A/(dm)<2> to obtain a bleaching solution. The value of pH of the bleaching solution should be preferably about 4 to 9.5 (more preferably 6 to 8.5). This bleaching solution is almost colorless, and neutral, and since it loses its oxidizing power when let stand about a day after the preparation, it, when discharged, never contaminates the environment. |
