The vacuum packing machine has a housing containing a vacuum chamber with sealing cover. A support plate (4) is lowered into the chamber (2) to a variable depth. There can be a roller conveyor track (25) on the plate, which is mounted in a horizontal frame (5) movable up and down. In the uppermost position the plate slopes and extends over one edge of the housing (31) so as to discharge the items from it. In the adjustable lower position the plate lies in the same plane as the frame. The plate can tilt on a spindle (27) working in an elongated hole in the frame (28) under the action of an ejector lever (26) in the frame, which strikes a fixed pin (29) in the housing on lifting the frame, causing the plate to slide also.
