The axial thrust drier has cones (7, 8, 9, 15) accelerating the mixture to be dried. Slots, perforations or grilles are formed in the cones, so as to create a preliminary drainage and thickening zone in the path of the mixture. The design avoids the need for a separate thickening device before the machine.
