METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING ONEESIDE PLATED IRON ALLOY STRIP

PURPOSE:To carry out one-side hot dipping of high productivity by contacting one side of a strip to a hot dipping metal stream to hot dip the side and by spraying a non-oxidizing gas upon the opposite side at the same time. CONSTITUTION:Iron alloy strip 2 surface cleaned in reduction furnace 1 is introduced into process chamber 3 kept under a reducing atmosphere. The progress direction of strip 2 is turned with roll 4, and one side of strip 2 is hot dipped in a section opposite to non-oxidizing gas spouting face 7 of gas spouting structure 6 set between rolls 4, 5. The progress direction of strip 2 is turned with roll 5 again to move strip 2 upward. Face 7 of structure 6 is provided with many gas spouting holes 8 to spray a non-oxidizing gas upon the other side of strip 2 almost perpendicularly. Molten metal stream 10 derived from slit-shaped opening end 9 flows in thin layer, contacts to a strip side to be hot dipped, and wets the side alone to coat the side with molten metal.
