<p>In order to be able to produce the folding rule from plastic without it thereby bending to a more pronounced degree in the extended state than does one constructed from wood or metal or having to be of heavier design, its individual links (4) are hollow or have cavities. Each link of the rule can have intermediate webs (5) for further stiffening. It can also consist of two half shells (7) which are welded to one another and have intermediate webs (9).
