PURPOSE:To make it possible to generate the reproduced signals, which are free from the bear obstraction while having a high quality, by scanning a recording medium with a scanning stylus, which is equipped with such an electrode as has its width smaller than the track pitch of the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A scanning stylus 40 is brought into scanning and sliding contact with the surface of a disk 30, which has a flat surface and which is equipped with such helical or concentric tracks as are recorded with major information signals as the variation in geometric shape without forming any stylus guiding groove, so that the major information signals are read out and reproduced as the variation in electrostatic capacity. The maximum width SW at the sliding surface of the stylus 40 is made larger than the track pitch Tp of the disk 30, and the width P of the electrode 38 which is fixed to the rear end face of the stylus 40 is made to hold the relation of P<Tp at all times. Thus, the reproduction signals of high quality can be generated, and the tracking servo can be accomplished always stably and reliably. |
