The pre-machined baulk (10A) is used to construct walls of all timber dwellings, and may have a uniform square cross section, being placed longitudinally one on top of another to form a wall. A tongue and groove system is utilised in the bed joints, two parallel longitudinal 'V' section tongues (14) on one face engaging reciprocal grooves (18) in the face above. Alternative vertical baulks (10A) may project at right angled wall corners and the tongues being omitted over longitudinal overlap zones (22). A compressible sealing strip (32) may be included in te bed joints to provide airtight connections.
|
