The i.c. engine component rotating together with the crank shaft carries a mark, exp. a pin interacting with the angular position pickup. The engine is held in a certain position in which the piston (15) is between its top and bottom dead centres, a fixed angular scale (23) is in this position put on the mark (22) and the angular position pickup (1) is applied to its free end (25) and fastened to the engine (2). A clamping bolt (7) in an elongated hold (9) is used for fixing.
