An electrical connector for use in branching off from between the ends of a flat multi-conductor cable or flexible printed circuit strip 3 comprises a non-conductive cable guide having a base 6 and an elongated conductor guide member 7 projecting therefrom and a non-conductive securing member 12 having an elongated opening therein for receiving the conductor guide member 7. A multi-conductor flat cable 3 with bared conductors 1 at one point along its length is laid over the free end of the guide member 7, and the securing member 12 is then pressed over the guide member 7 to force the bared conductors 1 to conform to the shape of the guide member 7, and the securing member 12 is subsequently latched in place e.g. by locking projections 9. The resulting assembly resembles a male multi-contact connector which can be inserted into a mating female connector. <IMAGE> |
