The waste gas from a chemical process passes through a heat exchanger in which it is cooled so that vapour impurities in it are condensed out. After flowing through a liq. separator is passes to another heat exchanger in which it is reheated. The reheated gas then drives a turbine and is exhausted to atmosphere through a heat exchanger in which it cools an intermediate fluid. This fluid is pumped through the first heat exchanger in which it cools the entering waste gas. The process allows expansion to take place in a single stage turbine without condensation in the turbine and also reduces atmospheric pollution. |
