A socket or holder for electric light bulbs comprises electrical connecting means 13 connected to or formed integrally with the cylindrical metal insert 3 conventionally provided as reinforcement for the cylindrical wall 2 of insulating material which defines a generally cylindrical cavity into which a pair of spring loaded pins 5 extend for engagement with contacts of a light bulb inserted into the cavity and retained by a bayonet-type fixing.
