<p>The road-rail conversion for the road vehicle has special axles (1) onto which road or rail wheels can be pressed, and supported on the same wheel bearing (5). The special hubs (14) are driven by a reduction gearing (10) at the ends of the axle shafts. The system allows rapid conversion from mode of travel to the other so that loads need not be transhipped. The system also allows one man operation for the smaller loads, or even enables buses to be driven along railway tracks.</p> |
