The valve spring compressor for an I.C. engine consists of a hydraulic cylinder with a double acting piston. The hydraulic pressure on the piston is transmitted through a cross pin to two push rods which are joined by a cross-bar. The cross-bar is bolted to an L-shaped member with a forked end which straddles the valve rod and collets and compresses the spring. The addition of the L-shaped member provides easier access to the spring and collets.
