A method of and apparatus for grinding a workpiece is provided to form a bead, cabochon, or the like. The workpiece 20 is located in a chuck 18 which is drivably rotated by motor 14. A disc saw 12 grinds the workpiece 20. The chuck 18 is mounted on a platform 22 which is adjustable in three mutually right angular planes and which is also rotatable about an axis at right angles to the rotational axis of the disc saw 12. Preferably, the chuck 18 is also adjustable relative to the platform and the disc saw 12 relative to a frame 16 on which the apparatus is mounted. Provision is also made for minor irregularities in dimensions of the workpiece by springs 50 in the jaws of the chuck 18. <IMAGE> |
