<p>Two linked platforms (1) carrying pulleys (6) on which run two endless belts (7) in parallel, which in turn carry two swivelling plates (11). These are at right angles to the belts on the driven side and are feathered against the current on the return side. The generator is driven by a belt (33). The platforms are run out from a winched cable drum and are located on a railed track on the sea bed. The rig can also incorporate a tank which can be flooded by remote control, thus causing the rig to sink lower in the water during severe weather. It can also incorporate a built in air compressor, which powers the operation of the flooding valve and can pump air into tanks attached to the side of the rig, thus lifting the rig higher out of the water when required.</p> |
