The present invention relates to a composition for improving activation of microglia or preventing and treating ischemic diseases, comprising noggin as an active ingredient. The noggin inhibits brain atrophy, promotes the expression of proteins for brain tissue repair and angiogenesis and contributes to the brain tissue repair for recovering ischemic stroke by increasing activity of the microglia, when administering the noggin for two weeks after two weeks from inducing MCAO in animal models having middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). |
