PURPOSE:To provide the subject engine wherein two cams having different profiles are fixedly mounted on the cam shaft of an engine, and a rocker arm in abutment with these cams is moved in accordance with the driving condition, whereby the opening and closing of suction and exhaust valves adapted to the driving condition is carried out. CONSTITUTION:A low speed cam 27a and a high speed cam 27b are fixed to a cam shaft 19, a rocker arm 19 moving on both cams and coming into abutment therewith is arranged on said cam shaft 29, and a valve lifter 17 opening and closing the suction and exhaust valves is brought into abutment with the other end of the arm 19. In the rocker shaft 21 of the arm there is loosely fitted a rocker arm shifting shaft 23, and the end part 23a of the shaft 23 is connected to an oil pressure cylinder 24. In accordance with the driving condition, the cylinder 24 shifts the shaft 23, whereby the rocker shaft 21 operated in linkage with the shaft 23 shifts the arm 19 to either of appropriate cams 27a and 27b and bought the same into abutment therewith. |
