In an amplifier stage which includes a main amplifier (11) whose output is connected to the output (15) of the amplifier stage, noise and distortion are compensated by a feedback path which includes a summation point (17) combining the input signal of the amplifier taken from a transistor (10) with its output signal taken from the transistor (11) and generating an auxiliary signal. A transistor (12) amplifies the auxiliary signal and combines it with the input signal at a point (14) to form an input signal for the amplifier. The closed loop defined by the points (14, 17) and transistor (12) and excluding the main amplifier (11) has approximately unity gain. The amplifier may be used in long- distance telephone connections. <IMAGE> |
