In example polystyrene particles of diameter 0.16 micron are used: particles of acrylic resins are also mentioned. In use the water particles are mixed with a blood sample; a positive result is indicated by agglutination; alternatively the test sample may be mixed with a solution containing antigen and then with the reagent for antigen, in which case failure to agglutinate is a positive result (showing that antibodies in the test sample have reacted with the antigen in the solution. |
