PURPOSE:To protect a workpiece and a lapping tool from damage, by adopting the hook and poise action so that the lapping speed does not exceed the feeding speed of a workpiece feeding-speed control unit to prevent excessive lapping load. CONSTITUTION:A hook 9 restricts a guide mechanism 6 of a workpiece I and a feeding speed control unit 8 only in such a manner as not to separate each other; while, a poise 7 always acts on them as to separate each other. The weight of poise 7 is so arranged that it is equal to the sum of the weight of a movable components including the guide mechanism 6 and the workpiece, and the maximum allowable work load, so that the work load which is applied during the operation does not exceed maximum allowable load. Consequently, the workpiece I or a lapping tool 2 that moves in the X direction by a tool carriage mechanism 5, is protected from damage due to excessive work load during the lapping operation. |
