<p>Carriers comprise macroporous amphoteric ion-exchange resins with (a) a cation exchange capacity, due to carboxymethyl gps., of >=0.5 meq/g (dry basis); (b) an anion exchange capacity of >=1 meq/g (dry basis); (c) a specific surface of >=1 (pref. >=5) m2/g (dry basis); and (d) a total macropore vol. (in pores of dia. 0.01-0.2 mu m) of >=0.1 (pref. >=0.2) cc/g (dry basis). The carriers can be used to immobilise a wide range of enzymes (e.g. lactase, proteases, urease, glucose, isomerase and pullulanase) for catalysing aq.-phase reactions. The immobilised enzymes have a high specific activity and a long service life compared with those immobilised on conventional ion-exchange resins.</p> |
