The rowing boat is fitted with support plates (1, 2) for the feet of the rower. These have two sets of lateral clamps (5) which grip over the edges of locking plates (6) fitted under the soles of the rowing shoes, and extending past the front edges of the shoes. The locking plates are further secured by sprung tongues (11) to grip into slots (12) at the front of the plates. The foot support plates provide a universal fitting for any size of shoe, as well as a rapid and safe hold for the feet. The mounting plates are adjustable for position in the boat by mounting slots (7) on each side.
