The shackle consists of two arms (11a, b) with coaxial holes (12a, b) which may be threaded or plain to receive the shackle pin. A washer (13) with a threaded hole (14) is hinged to arm (11b) of the shackle so that hole (14) can be aligned with that of arm (11b). The washer is pref. riveted in place, the rivet allowing free movement of the washer. Alternatively, the washer can be located by a stud on one element engaging in a hole in the other element. The washer is pref. pear-shaped, a threaded hole being provided in its larger part. The washer strengthens the shackle and increases its service life. Since the washer is fixed, it does not become detached when the shackle pin is removed.
|
