The mixt. is to be sintered on the grid, and flows downwards from a hopper onto a feeder drum; a motor-driven shutter adjusts the height of an outlet slot on one side of the hopper, the mixt. flowing through the slot onto the rotating drum. A rotating deflection roller is located between drum and the mobile grid. Roller rotates in the opposite direction to drum, and can pred. be adjusted both horizontally and vertically w.r.t. drum and the grid. The mixt. pref. meets roller (b) along a line below the highest point of the periphery of roller (b), which pref. travels at an r.p.m. adjusted by a sensor measuring the thickness of the mixt. on the bed. Used to obtain a uniform thickness of the mixt. on the grid, where the mixt. has high permeability to gas.
