The butterfly valve has a circular plate mounted on bearings (15). The bearings are located in an outer collar (14) which is fitted with an internal brush (15). The valve plate (12) is offset on its turning axis and has two spindles (13) diametrically opposite to each other. The spindle is held in position on one side by a keeper plate and the valve is located in between flanges (22) within a pipe run. The valve seats on one of the faces of the internal bush (15) which is made from elastic material and has a smaller internal diameter than the pipe diameter.
