<p>The solar radiation is directed onto the boiler by trains of mirrors running on tracks which defined concentric circular arcs about the vertical axis of the boiler, the mirrors being moved to follow the sun. The reflective webs, e.g. of myla (RTM) plastics films, pass over successive supports in the train, each support having a frame which can be turned about an axis perpendicular to the track, the changes in tension along the whole length of web being compensated for. The web ran horizontally and several narrow webs can make up the height of the supports. This arrangement gives a lighter and cheaper installation than with conventional mirrors. The surface area can be quickly reduced, by winding in the webs, in the event of high winds.</p> |
