Front-wheel drive transmission for front engine car - has cascade reduction gears into gearbox and bevel gear connection to differential

The front engined vehicle front wheel drive system has the output shaft (7) from the flywheel and clutch assembly (1) driving a cascade reduction gearing (10) linked to the input shaft (12) of the compact gearbox. The output shaft (14) of the gearbox drives a bevel gear (17) in the same plane as the cascade, to couple directly to the differential. The whole power unit is simple and compact. The engine and gearbox straddle the front axle. The compactness allows max. use of the engine space for more power.
