A monitoring system fitted to a seed sowing tractor enables a check to be continuously made on the flow of seeds into the ploughed furrow. The tractor ploughs multiple furrows by dragging a multiple share unit, with each share having a feeder channel (14) along which seeds (28) fall. A piezoelectric sensor (16) is continuously contacted by the flow of seeds and generates signals to an error detecting stage (18) on the plough. Any blockage or interruption in seed flow is immediately signalled such that the operator is aware of the condition and the specific feed channel involved.
