The process involves removing loose soot, spraying the surface to be cleaned with a detergent contg. a film-forming mineral oil fraction and setting the boiler in operation again. The process is also suitable for cleaning coke boilers, smoke traps and chimneys. The need for mechanical removal of deposits is eliminated and the process is rapid, simple and economical, since the residues loosen and burn away. Even areas which are not readily accessible can be cleaned without difficulty.
