The flat solar heat collector is open for irradiation at both front and back and receives additional rays via mirrors. The transparent cover on each side is less than 10cm clear of the absorbent collector surface and below the plane defined by the lower cover one or more mirrors are mounted symmetrically in relation to the lengthwise or transverse collector axis. At least 60% of the mirror reflective surface is curved to a radius between 0.8 and 8 times that of the length of narrow collector side. It is so mounted in relation to the collector that perpendiculars on more than 40% of the reflective surface do not strike the collector surface.
