Hospital and like equipment is sterilized after washing, by being subjected to a short shock of hot, moist air at a temperature ranging from 350 DEG C to 800 DEG C, and preferably maintained at, or above 500 DEG C, the treatment time being a matter of seconds only, the method being carried out by means of a receptacle 10 for the equipment and provided with means permitting the washing of the equipment placed in the receptacle, a heater 13 and a fan 12 in a closed circulation system control means being provided to shut off the receptacle 10 from a circulation system 14, 15 during the washing operation, and to start the circulation and heating as well as opening a shut off valve to the receptacle, when the washing is finished. <IMAGE> |
