Carding appts. is provided with an endless carding cover composed of transversely extending bars whose width corresp. to >=3% of the carding drum dia., and the surface of the bars facing the carding drum has a radius of curvature corresp. to the path along which the bars move when co-operating with the drum. Effective surface area of the cover is increased. Pref. the width of the carding bars varies from 2.5-9%. Pref. the carding fitting is composed of saw-tooth wires into a fitting which is adhesively bonded to the arcuate surface of the bars.
