A heat accumulator in the form of a thermally insulated tank contg. liquid has flat side walls, each of double-walled construction, with insulation in the form of a load-bearing material such as rigid polyurethane or cork board between the inner and outer skin, and firmly bonded to these skins. These side walls or parts of them are arranged successively in rows and the gaps between the adjacent parts are bridged over by an internal lining foil, to provide the liquid-retaining membrane. Used as a heat accumulator partic. for installation in the basement of a building. By building up the tank from a number of wall components which can be easily passed through a door, it is possible to construct a large tank in a normal basement. Also, the frame-type construction results in a saving in weight.
